Jennifer T. Matthews, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, Lean Practitioner
Jennifer Matthews is a medical planner, project manager, and architectural designer with over a decade of experience shaping healthcare environments across the U.S. and internationally. An Associate at SS&A Design Collective, she has led and supported complex healthcare projects for major institutions across both the public and private sectors. Jennifer is known for combining design precision with strategic planning, leveraging her multifaceted expertise in architecture, medical planning, and business leadership.
She is the founder of Creative’s XPerience (XP), an initiative launched in 2020 to empower students and early-career professionals in architecture and design through mentorship, workshops, and career exploration. Her innovative programming fosters inclusive networks and expands access to both traditional and nontraditional career opportunities.
A passionate advocate for emerging professionals, Jennifer made history as the first African American female National Vice President of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). She has spoken at numerous national conferences—including the AIA Convention, NOMA Conference, AIAS Grassroots, and AIAS FORUM—often focusing on equity, leadership, and non-linear career paths.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Tuskegee University and a Master of Arts in Business Design and Arts Leadership from SCAD, both earned with highest honors. She has received multiple accolades, including the AIA Henry Adams Medal and the HCD10 Educator Honor Award, and continues to influence the industry through speaking, mentoring, and community leadership.
